Just Healthy, Just Fruit
A few things come to mind when it comes to our country’s source of fame: our warm hospitality, our beautiful landscapes, and our booming agriculture. The Philippine agricultural landscape was popularly known as one of the best in the late 20th century, when we were the top exporter of rice in Southeast Asia. To this day, our agricultural crops are topnotch. This brings tourists from around the world to gush about the food they were able to eat during their stay in our country. Being a tropical country, it’s no wonder that our fruits are one of the best in the region.
Just Fruit picks out the best bananas, mangoes, and pineapples from farms in Cavite, Laguna, and Davao and turns them into freeze-dried snacks that last longer for us to enjoy. Through the process of freeze drying, the natural water content that contains the microorganisms which cause fruits to go bad is taken out. This leaves you with a snack that’s crisper than the typical fruits you buy from the grocery, but with the same nutrient benefits still intact.
While they can be enjoyed on their own, Just Fruit’s bags of goodness open the door to a lot of experimental possibilities in the kitchen. Add a few pieces in your oatmeal for refreshing bursts of flavor. Drop it into your water container for fruit-infused water 24/7. Throw them into a bowl of salad for a healthy crunch. Mix it up with honey to make homemade jam spread. Bring out a blender and some ice to make a fruit smoothie to beat the heat. If you’re an avid baker, you can pulverize some pieces to make icing, flavoring, or food coloring. There aren’t any limits when it comes to freeze-dried fruit.
Though a young brand (they were just established last year), they have big plans for the freeze-dried snack industry. Mangoes, bananas, and pineapples are just the start. They want to be able to make these purely local fruits available and accessible everywhere in the Philippines and hopefully expand to other countries.
